Vietnam Enterprise Investments Limited (VEIL) held its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 18, chaired by Sarah Arkle, Chair of the VEIL Board. The meeting comprised the formal AGM proceedings, followed by presentations on the Vietnamese economy and VEIL’s portfolio outlook from Dominic Scriven, Founder of Dragon Capital, and Tuan Le, VEIL’s Lead Portfolio Manager. The event concluded with a Q&A session and a Vietnamese buffet lunch.
What Was Covered
- Formal AGM business: Ten resolutions were put to shareholders by poll, including the re-election of Board directors, the reappointment of KPMG Limited as auditors, and authorization for continued share buybacks. A special resolution on the Trust’s continuation did not pass, and VEIL will continue in operation.
- Vietnam economic outlook: Dominic Scriven presented on Vietnam’s GDP growth, government reforms, infrastructure development, the private sector’s rising share of the economy, and the ongoing US tariff negotiations.
- Fund performance and strategy: Tuan Le presented VEIL’s portfolio performance and long-term investment thesis, highlighting the Fund’s focus on Vietnam’s banking, retail, and residential property sectors.
- Q&A session: Topics included the Fund’s discount management strategy, dividend policy, average portfolio holding periods, and Vietnam’s progress toward emerging market status.
